Description

Crystal Peak Park spans 56 acres along the beautiful Truckee River. Once an old resort complete with a pool and night club, now only an outdoor fire place and remnants of the swimming pool remain. These fun artifacts from the past can be seen and learned about along the interpretive trail just north of the Truckee River. Plenty of picnic tables and benches are scattered throughout the park, making this a great place to spend the day with family and friends.

The park is surrounded by beautiful mountains and rolling hills. Tall evergreens and cottonwoods line the park and its trails, giving ample amount of shade on a hot day. The interpretive loop is an easy, short loop with interpretive signs of the parks unique history and the surrounding vegetation. Several other social trails meander around the park and near the Truckee River to allow for a more immersive nature experience.

Trailhead Information

Drive about 10 miles west of Reno on I-80 and take the Verdi exit past Boomtown. At the stop, turn left on S. Verdi Road (there is a sign pointing to Crystal Peak Park). This road twists around, passing under I-80, over the railroad tracks, and under I80 again. It turns into Crystal Park Road. Look for the park's upper parking lot on your left. Just before this lot, there is a sharp left turn that takes you to the lower lot by the picnic area, restrooms, and trailhead.
