Description

Legendary for its mountain bike culture, Reno Tahoe’s prominent trail hub is as essential to the community as it is destination-worthy. Nowhere in the community is the next generation of public-driven trail innovation occurring as rapidly and enthusiastically as Sky Tavern. Elevating the region’s mountain bike experience at 8,000 ft., Sky Tavern’s approach is as unique as it is trailblazing: a nonprofit, community-funded bike park designed from the ground up (literally) for accessibility to all riders despite their ability.

Located on beautiful Mt. Rose Highway, Sky Tavern Bike Park is an easy 20-minute drive from Lake Tahoe or Reno. Viewable from Reno, Sky Tavern offers a refreshing reprieve from the basin’s warmer summer temperatures, often 20 degrees cooler than downtown Reno.

Wanting to hit the trails with confidence, but not quite sure how to get there? Let our Riders in the Sky mountain bike skills clinics show you how to do it, the right way! Our clinics are led by professional, certified mountain bike coaches. Affordably priced for accessibility to the community, participants learn on-trail fundamentals and progressive techniques while building confidence, all in the name of FUN! Whether you’re just starting your mountain bike journey or looking to sharpen your foundation, our assortment of Learn to Ride clinic programs provide a supportive environment and community to hone your skills. Sky Tavern offers Youth Clinics, Women-Inclusive Clinics, Adult Open Clinics, a Teen Gravity series and a Women's Camp weekend.

What to expect on the trails:

Sky Tavern has a great mix of different difficulties and bike park features design to test your skills and get you to that next level. Some of these trails are one directional so keep an eye out for directional signage! All trails are accessible from the Sky Tavern parking lot at the base of the hill. Easy Up is the designated climb trail, a low-grade, switchback that climbs to Top of Sky where all trails begin. High Five is a purpose-built aMTB flow trail that allows for all riders to access this bobsled course of a trail. The trail features wide flow for nearly 2 miles with easy features for beginner and intermediate riders. If you're lookign to hone in your skill son corners and small drops, take a few laps around the Progression Skills Zone. The Rick Sutherland Memorial trail is Sky Taversn's flagship intermediate flow trail, complete with sweeping berms, tabletops, fast flow, and rock gardens.
