This is just one of serval climbing routes located within the Red Rock Canyon. The Epinephrine climbing route is rated as a 5.9 and considered the route to do in the Red Rocks. Climbers will experience several technical changes from climbing chimneys to dihedrals and steep cliff faces. It is recommended to climb as light as possible as to not exhaust you. For an intermediate climber this route is estimated to take 6–9-hour round trip. It is complete with 15 pitches and is a 2000’ ascent, and descent. This route is not for the faint of heart and should only be attempted by experienced climbers.
To get to the Epinephrine route, hike along the Black Velvet Canyon trail. Do not complete the trail. You will approach a wash to the right, follow the wash into the canyon. You will run into a dry waterfall after about a half mile or so along the trail. You can climb this waterfall or head left out of the wash and climb around it. The base of Epinephrine will be about 100 yards past this point.
Other Routes in the Black Velvet Canyon:
Check weather conditions before heading out as the sandstone rock may become unstable when wet. Do not attempt this route if you are a beginner climber.
The road to get to the climbing routes is dirt. High clearance or 4WD vehicles are recommended but not required. The road may be washed out after rain.
No overnight camping is allowed. Camping is available nearby at the Red Rock Canyon campground.

On the right you will see a dirt parking turn out, continue along that dirt road for approximately 1.1 miles. At this point you will see a fork in the road, continue straight until you reach a gate. At the gate hang a left and you will arrive at the Black Velvet Canyon trailhead parking.
